Why work with me

How my therapy differs

Grounded in real life, not just theory

Therapy can sometimes feel detached from the world you actually live in. My approach is rooted in your everyday reality: your culture, your career and your family dynamics, informed by my own journey as an immigrant and a father.

Clinically trained and highly experience

Rather than sticking to one rigid school of thought, I draw on more than 20 years across NHS and private practice. With training in CBT, DBT, analytical and family psychotherapy, your treatment is as complex and nuanced as you are.

The root and the route

Many therapists focus only on the why. We explore the deep psychological roots of what holds you back, then map the route forward, drawing on my background in education so that insight leads to tangible change.

Therapy for every journey, not just a crisis

You do not need to be at breaking point to seek help. Therapy here is for everyone, from people navigating deep trauma to those who simply want to understand themselves better and unlock their potential.

Culturally sensitive and neuroinclusive

Traditional frameworks often overlook the impact of heritage and neurodivergence. I provide a space that advocates fiercely for your identity, honouring the particular challenges faced by immigrant families and neurodivergent people.

Goal-informed healing, not just talking

Open-ended drift helps nobody. Our work is purposeful: we move towards emotional resolution with a focus on sustainable, life-changing results that take you from surviving to genuinely thriving.

Which therapy fits?

Three doors. Each opens onto its own page, with fees, method and FAQs.

Emotional regulation

DBT therapy

For you if emotions arrive fast and big, and the fallout, impulses, conflict, shutdowns, is running your life. Often the right fit for BPD and ADHD-adjacent struggles.

Anxiety & low mood

CBT therapy

For you if anxiety, low mood or looping thought patterns are the problem and you want structured, practical work. I studied CBT at King’s College London.

The relationship

Couples therapy

For you if the relationship itself is what hurts: the same argument on repeat, distance you cannot close, trust to rebuild. You come as a pair; the relationship is the client.

Not sure which door is yours? That is exactly what the free 20-minute initial consultation is for.

Conditions

Or start from what you are carrying

Sometimes the door is the condition, not the method. These are the most common reasons people come to therapy here; each page explains how I work with it.

Start with a conversation

A couple of lines is enough. You do not need the right words.

Two kinds of work

Therapy or coaching?

I hold both credentials, so you get an honest answer rather than a sales pitch for whichever I sell.

The approach

Individual therapy for healing, resilience and lasting change Together

If life has become a weight you are struggling to carry alone, you do not have to keep holding it all together. After more than 20 years as an NHS and private psychotherapist, I have learned that healing is rarely linear. Whether you are ready to dive deep or hesitant about what might surface, most of us share the same goal: clarity, resolving old patterns, and a fundamental urge to thrive.

Emotional distress

Breaking through the patterns holding you back.

Life pressures

Managing the psychological weight of financial or physical health challenges.

Limiting beliefs

Moving past the idea that peace is just luck, or only for the gifted.

Meet Sabbir Ahmed

One clinician, start to finish. I trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, studied CBT at King’s College London, and have worked for over 20 years across NHS, private and community settings.

My approach is not just built on textbooks. My own path began when I arrived in the UK as an immigrant, balancing intensive psychotherapy training with long hours of work. When my son was diagnosed with autism and excluded from multiple schools, my wife and I refused to lower our expectations; today he holds two Master’s degrees and works alongside me. That lived experience, holding hope when systems fail, is the foundation of my clinical practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

We meet weekly at the same time, in person at Harley Street or Angel, or by secure video. A session lasts 50 minutes. We review how the work is going openly and at regular intervals.

Yes. I see clients across the UK by secure video, and internationally where time zones allow. Online work is the same clinical work, with the same confidentiality.

Sessions start from £195, and the first step is a free 20-minute initial consultation. Full details, including cancellation terms, are on the fees page.

No. I work privately rather than through insurance panels. You pay for sessions directly, and I provide invoices when an employer or organisation is paying.

It depends on what we are working on. Some people feel real movement within 10 to 12 sessions; deeper or longer-standing patterns take longer. We review together rather than drift.

Yes. I work within UKCP ethical guidelines. The rare exceptions, such as a serious risk to your safety or someone else’s, are explained clearly before we begin.

That is what the free 20-minute initial consultation is for. You describe what is going on, and I will tell you honestly which pathway fits, including when the right answer is not me.

Only in limited circumstances. Emergency appointments are reserved for existing clients in acute distress and focus on immediate stabilisation, safety planning and appropriate signposting. If you are in crisis right now, call Samaritans free, 24 hours a day, on 116 123, or call 999 in an emergency.
