Introducing Myself

My name is Sabbir, and I am a London-based psychotherapist and therapeutic coach. For more than two decades I’ve been working with people who want to feel calmer, clearer and more confident, whether they are facing long-standing emotional patterns or a specific life crisis.

My own journey began long before my formal training. I came to the UK in my twenties as an immigrant, working hard to build a new life for my family. When my eldest son was diagnosed with autism in my mid-twenties, many professionals doubted his potential. I didn’t. I believed he could thrive, and that belief led me to start psychotherapy training so I could understand how to support him and others like him.

During those years I was studying, working in schools with children with neurodevelopmental conditions during the day, and in youth provision with young people with challenging behaviour in the evenings, often while struggling to pay my fees. This experience taught me resilience, humility and a deep respect for the strength that people carry, even when life is tough.

Over the years, I have worn many hats in the NHS, including Youth Offending Team clinician, neuro-developmental specialist, clinical supervisor and service manager. Today, I continue to work part-time in the NHS, run a home-care company in the UK with my son, and volunteer with people with learning disabilities and autism. My son, who many once doubted, has completed Masters’ degrees in Pharmacy and in Data Science and now works alongside me in our family business.

These personal and professional experiences shape the way I practise, with warmth, clear boundaries, and a strong belief that change is possible at any stage of life.

What I Do Differently at Kind Soul Psych

Forged through lived experience, not only textbooks

I arrived in the UK as a young immigrant, working days and evenings in schools and youth services while funding my psychotherapy training and raising a son newly diagnosed with autism. Navigating these challenges gave me first-hand experience of what it means to hold hope when systems and people doubt you—and that determination is at the heart of how I support my clients.

Clinically trained, not just “short-course” coached

I am a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and EMCC-accredited therapeutic coach with over a decade of postgraduate training, hundreds of supervised clinical hours and ongoing professional supervision. This allows me to work safely with both coaching goals and complex emotional issues.

Decades of NHS and community experience

I have worked for more than twenty years in NHS mental health services and community settings, supporting people with trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions, personality difficulties and long-term emotional struggles. This experience means I understand not just theory, but how change happens in real lives and real systems.

Lived understanding of neurodiversity

I have walked the full journey from early diagnosis to adulthood with my autistic son, who has gone on to achieve advanced degrees and now collaborates with me in our home-care company. Combined with my clinical work, this gives me a deep appreciation of both the challenges and strengths of neurodivergent people.

For every walk of life, not only “high performers”

Unlike many high-profile coaching brands that focus mainly on executives, I intentionally work with people from all backgrounds—from students and carers to entrepreneurs and senior professionals. My belief is simple: if I could move forward despite my own obstacles, then with the right support, you can too.

Whole-person, culturally sensitive approach

I pay attention to culture, faith, migration, family expectations and identity. You do not have to leave parts of yourself at the door; we look at how all these pieces interact to shape your story and your choices.

Clear goals, but not “quick-fix” thinking

Together we define concrete goals and strategies, as in coaching. At the same time, I help you explore and shift the underlying patterns that keep you stuck, so that change is sustainable rather than a brief burst of motivation.

Regulated and evidence-informed

As a member of regulated professional bodies, I follow strict ethical standards and engage in continuous professional development. My work draws on evidence-based psychological approaches while always being tailored to the individual in front of me.

My Professional Background

I trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, an internationally respected institute for psychotherapy and mental health training. I also completed CBT training at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London, along with further specialist courses in family/systemic psychotherapy at St George’s Hospital, emotional wellbeing in children and families, DBT, and supervision.

My clinical work spans more than two decades in both the NHS and private practice. I support adults and young people with a wide range of difficulties, including trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, relationship problems and low self-esteem. I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent individuals and their families.

Over the years, I have worked with thousands of clients from many different cultures and walks of life. Whether someone is a senior leader, a student, a carer or currently out of work, my aim is the same: to offer tailored, compassionate support that respects their story and helps them move towards a life that feels more grounded, meaningful and free.
